He graduated from Daegu Neungin High School and Korea University with a degree in law.

After graduating from university, Ryu Kwang-ji joined Seoul Securities, a subsidiary of the Daelim Group.

While working at Seoul Securities, a friend requested his help with Kumyang, which was facing difficulties, and he joined Kumyang in 1998 as a manager.

During his tenure at Kumyang, he played a crucial role in normalizing the company, which was on the verge of bankruptcy in the late 1990s, and became CEO in 2001.

Based on his management philosophy of 'never staying stagnant and continuously evolving,' he has recently been expanding investments with the goal of establishing a global presence in the secondary battery industry and pioneering the standardization of hydrogen fuel cells.

In 2022, Kumyang became the third company in Korea, following Samsung and LG, to succeed in developing cylindrical secondary batteries.
