Lee Myeon-young is the Chairman of Hongik Foundation, which operates Hongik University. He is the cousin of the former Chairman Lee Do-young, who acquired Hongik University.
Born in Seoul in 1933, he graduated from the Department of Agricultural Chemistry at Seoul National University.
He earned a master's degree from the Graduate School of Business at Korea University and a doctorate in business administration from Sungkyunkwan University.
He began his career at Hongik University as a professor in 1966.
After being appointed as president in 1985 and serving four consecutive terms, he has been continuously serving as the chairman of Hongik Foundation since 1997.
He focuses on developing the Hwaseong campus, improving educational environments, and ensuring excellence in research and education.
He is also dedicated to improving the negative image of Hongik University as an institution with high tuition fees and the highest reserves.
