Lee Dong-chae is the Senior Advisor of Ecopro.
He tenaciously pushed forward the secondary battery materials business, growing the company into one of the leading firms on the KOSDAQ market.
He was born on December 10, 1959, in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province.
He graduated from Daegu Commercial High School and earned a degree in Business Administration from Yeungnam University.
He began his career at the Korea Housing Bank, later worked at Samsung Electronics, and then became a certified public accountant after obtaining his CPA qualification.
In 1998, he founded Korea Zeorum, the company that became the foundation of the Ecopro Group.
In 2004, he began the secondary battery materials business—which became the cornerstone of the Ecopro Group—after receiving a proposal from Cheil Industries to acquire its cathode and precursor business.
He was convicted of insider trading and served a prison sentence before being released on a Liberation Day special pardon.
As the electric vehicle market faces challenges, attention is now focused on whether he will return to the management frontlines.
