Kim Yong-beom is the Vice Chairman and CEO of Meritz Financial Group.
He currently oversees the entire group’s management while also serving as Head of Group Liabilities at Meritz Financial Group, which has established a holding company-centric management system.
Born on January 3, 1963, in Gyeonggi Province.
He graduated from Hanseong High School in Seoul and later from Seoul National University with a degree in Business Administration.
Kim began his career in the Investment Analysis Team of the Securities Department at Daehan Life Insurance. He then moved to CSFB Securities, where he developed arbitrage techniques integrating foreign exchange and bond derivatives, becoming the youngest director at CSFB Securities at age 34.
He was promoted to the position of Senior Manager in his 30s after serving as the Head of Fund Management at Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance and the Head of Bond Management at Samsung Investment Trust Management.
After being recruited as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Meritz Securities, he was appointed as CEO.
He later became CEO of Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance, where he increased performance with a focus on long-term health insurance, eventually rising to Vice Chairman.
As Meritz Financial Group fully integrated Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance and Meritz Securities as 100% subsidiaries, Kim stepped down from his role as CEO of Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance and took on the role of Head of Group Liabilities at the holding company.
Kim is known for his strict emphasis on performance, while disliking authority and formality.
