Commissioned as an Air Force pilot, he served as the Commander of the 5th Tactical Airlift Wing, Southern Combat Commander, Commander of the Air Force Education and Training Command, and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force before retiring as a lieutenant general.

He served as the Aerospace Industry Policy Officer in Sacheon, Gyeongsangnam-do, and as a distinguished professor at Yeungnam University before being appointed President and CEO of Korea Aerospace Industries in 2022.

He is an aviation expert who has held key positions in the Air Force and completed the highest professional course at the Empire Test Pilots' School in the United Kingdom.
