With the inauguration of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, he took on the role of Head of the COVID-19 Special Response Team at the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

In 2023, he was appointed as the President of the NHIS.

He is an expert in the field of respiratory diseases.
