Villarreal earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM) and later obtained a master's degree in Industrial Engineering from the same university.
He began his career at GM Mexico’s Ramos Arizpe plant and was later appointed an executive in charge of planning and program management at GM Mexico. After serving as Vice President of Planning and Program Management at GM Mexico, he joined GM Korea, where he eventually became President and CEO.
Since taking the helm, Villarreal has successfully maintained GM Korea’s profitability, significantly boosting the company’s revenue and operating profit.
