He held several key administrative positions at the university, including Director of External Affairs, Director of Academic Affairs, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Vice President for Administrative Affairs, before being appointed as the university president.

He is renowned for developing the world's first spin transistor.

He has published numerous papers in various prestigious academic journals, including *Science*. He also serves as a management committee member for the Ministry of Education's LAMP project.
