He is focusing on expanding the sales of high-margin insurance products in line with the introduction of the new accounting system.
He was born on March 18, 1955, in Seoul as the seventh son among eight sons and three daughters of Hyundai Group Chairman Chung Ju-yung.
He graduated from the Department of Business Administration at San Francisco State University in the United States and received a master's degree in business administration from the same university's graduate school.
He began his career at Hyundai Corporation.
He moved to Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance, where he served as vice president and president before becoming chairman.
He grew Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance, which was spun off from Hyundai Group, into a quasi-conglomerate with assets exceeding KRW 5 trillion (US$ 3.6 billion).
He is very interested in supporting social enterprises. He supports the non-profit corporation Root Impact, established by his son Chung Kyung-sun, the CEO of Silvan Group, through personal donations.
