Chung Ki-sun is the Vice Chairman and CEO of HD Hyundai. He also serves as the CEO of HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering.
He is pursuing a vision called "Future Builder" while establishing an owner-management system within the HD Hyundai Group.
He was born on May 3, 1982, in Seoul as the eldest son of Chung Mong-joon, the largest shareholder of HD Hyundai.
After graduating from Daewon Foreign Language High School in Seoul and earning a degree in Economics from Yonsei University, he completed his MBA at Stanford University's Graduate School of Business in the United States.
Chung joined Hyundai Heavy Industries (now HD Hyundai) as an assistant manager in the finance team before going to study abroad in the United States.
He worked at the Korean branches of Credit Suisse and Boston Consulting Group (BCG) before rejoining Hyundai Heavy Industries as a manager.
He was later promoted to executive roles, including Director of Planning and Finance, and continued to rise through the ranks to Executive Director and Vice President. He took on his first CEO role at Hyundai Global Service (now HD Hyundai Marine Solutions).
After HD Hyundai transitioned into a pure holding company, he also took on the role of Chairman of the Future Committee, which is focused on identifying new growth drivers, alongside his duties as the holding company’s CEO.
He also became the CEO of HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, a mid-tier holding company in the shipbuilding sector.
In 2023, Chung was promoted to Vice Chairman.
He is known for his ability to get along well with people and is often described as humble and down-to-earth.
