Life Summary
Choi Si-young is the President and Head of the Foundry Business at Samsung Electronics.

He is focusing his efforts on catching up with TSMC of Taiwan, the world leader in the foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturing) business, which is a key part of Samsung Electronics' system semiconductor division.

In particular, as he has led the way in mass production of advanced processes below 3 nanometers ahead of TSMC, he is working hard to widen the gap further.

He was born on January 18, 1964, in Seoul.

He graduated from Yonsei University with a degree in Materials Science and received a master's degree in Materials Science from the graduate school of Yonsei University, and a Ph.D. in Electronic Materials Engineering from the graduate school of Ohio State University in the United States.

After joining Samsung Electronics, he worked in the process development team of the Semiconductor Research Center, served as the head of the Process Development Team of the Foundry Business Team, head of the Yield Enhancement (YE) Team at the System LSI Center, head of the Foundry Manufacturing Technology Center, and head of the Memory Manufacturing Technology Center, establishing himself as an expert in the semiconductor process field.

In 2020, he succeeded President Jung Eun-seung as head of the Foundry Business.

He has led process development and manufacturing in Samsung Electronics' semiconductor business.
